Bridgwater Town Trails

Over the years the Bridgwater and District Civic Society have produced a series of Bridgwater Town Trails in order to give residents or visitors a guide to the built heritage of the town centre. Taking the form of a series of walks, these trails highlight buildings of architectural interest, and places of historic significance. Each guide has got progressively larger, the 2010 guide including three separate trails around periods in the long history of Bridgwater. The guides produced by the Civic Society are reproduced in the links below, so that they might be downloaded or printed, and used by you to walk around the town.

The first 1978 Town Trail was a playful 8-page insert in to that year’s Town Guide.
The 1984 Town Trail was a fuller 16-page booklet, produced by the Civic Society. A second edition was made in 1989.
The 2004 Town Trail (not available here) was a 26-page booklet produced by Sedgemoor District Council, only with the help of the Civic Society.
The 2010 Town Trail was a 34-page booklet, written by a team of history students under the supervision of the Civic Society and was the first to be in full colour.
