In 2023, the Civic Society commissioned the short film, the ‘Young People’s Guide to the Blue Plaques of Bridgwater’. This seven minute video explores the history of Bridgwater and the role of the Bridgwater and District Civic Society. This student-led short film was created with students from Bridgwater and Taunton College. The video was launched in the Engine Room on 28 June 2023, and the mayor was in attendance.
The filmmakers for the Young People’s Guide to the Blue Plaques of Bridgwater were Matthew Loat, Ellie Brown, Simeon Gooderham, India Kear, Kyle Lane, Isaac Legg, Jordan Lewis, Alan Mead, Myonie Shearer, Blake Toogood, Max Turner. They were mentored by James Price. Assistance was given by Alan Hardcastle of the College, Mike Searle of the Blake Museum, Brian Smedley of the Town Council, and Mike Grabner. The video was produced by Somerset Film, with the support of Bridgwater Town Council and the Bridgwater Trades Union Council.
